Jim Marcinkowski worked with Valerie Plame Wilson in the CIA several years ago and has been an outspoken critic of the Bush Administration regarding "traitor-gate" and many other issues. Representatives Rahm Emmanuel (D-5 IL) Chair of the DCCC, Nancy Pelosi (D-8 CA) - House Minority Leader, John Conyers, Jr (D-14 MI), John Dingell (D-15 MI) and others have recruited Jim to run for Congress in the 8th District. Joe Wilson is helping his friend with a visit to Michigan to help Jim Marcinkowski kick off his campaign to beat Mike Rogers. Help me take back the Congress! With Republicans in control of the entire federal government we are in trouble.
The Republicans in Congress have turned their backs on working families by ignoring the rising costs of health care, sending hundreds of thousands of jobs overseas, placing pensions in jeopardy, damaging our international relationships and placing our long-term financial future in doubt.
Republicans claim to be fighting a "stateless" war on terror yet they invaded the state of Iraq where there was no link to the 9/11 tragedy and where there were no weapons of mass destruction.
While Michigan lost more than 300,000 jobs over 6 years, Republicans boast of creating 300,000 jobs in Central America through the passage of CAFTA.
Republicans are outraged when the White House is exposed breaking the law by tapping electronic communications in the United States, but think nothing of it when the very same White House exposed an undercover CIA officer for political purposes.
The fact of the matter is, a one-party dominated government with no checks on power is dangerous. Together we can do better. I will do better.
We can be tougher on terror by being smarter on tactics. Invading a country that posed no immediate threat and then expending billions to rebuild that country is not good policy.
We need to make the working class families in Michigan a priority again, and reverse policies that benefit only the workers of Central America, China or India.
We need to uphold and defend the Constitution and not violate its protections because it is expedient.
We need new priorities to establish a workable health care system: one that our seniors can understand, that is affordable to middle class workers and small entrepreneurs, and one that simply exists for the least able among us.
We need a Congress with a new kind of leadership. I know I can provide that leadership.
But I will need your help. My opponent, an incumbent, operates from a John Engler gerrymandered district. He votes exclusively with Tom Delay and his ilk and, as a result, this Michigan Congressional district might as well be in Texas. Our people in Michigan simply cannot afford to send back to the House of Representatives another one of the White House's rubber-stamping "good ole boys." I have taken on this Republican White House before and I am prepared to do so again.
I am asking that you help me in this fight for working families, for our seniors and for the future of our children. With your help, I am confident that we can regain control of the U.S. House of Representatives and by working together we can bring back balance to our government.
The battle begins right here, right now. Working together as people of good faith, as Michiganians, and as Democrats we can win, we will win. We will redirect this great nation and put it on a path that benefits the people that worked so hard and long and sacrificed so much to make this country work for everyone. Please join with me.
